Work on the Retaining Wall Continues

The main focus of our July working bee was the continued construction of our retaining wall.

Everyone worked hard shovelling and barrowing soil to create a terraced area behind half of the retaining wall.

Kati & Jon explained the planting plans for this section of the terraced area, including tea, coffee and clumping bamboo (a future source of garden teepees). The garden shed, compost bins, worm farms will occupy the remaining space.

The draft Garden Plan (covering governance, gardening, communication, finance and social aspects of our group), formulated by a working group of Adam, Amanda, Janet, John, Renee and Sophie, was explained, with members invited to provide input before next working bee so that it can be finalised. This will be an evolving document that we continue to adapt inline with the garden's evolution.

Everyone enjoyed a well earned brunch supplied by Twig Cafe.

The other half of this terrace will be completed at our next working bee (August 6).
